D.W Murphy Ltd have completed two large jobs for us. The first was a substantial extension to our last house, here he also built a the wall at the back property. We started out with a dilapidated two bed brick and flint cottage so quite a transformation. More recently, between March and May this year, they have carried out substantial works to the entrance to our new house including widening it by several feet, constructing at least forty foot of retaining walls, new electric gates, new patio, etc.
I'd certainly recommend D.W Murphy Ltd. They a very organised builder/project manager and has provided huge amounts of input into the design and construction methods used in the projects that we've worked on. They take the architects plans and says - wouldn't it be better to do it this way? Keeps the site tidy and the men are all very pleasant.

SUBSTANTIAL EXTENSION

I had a requirement to extend my current house. I employed an architect and once the plans had been passed he advised me to take at least three quotes from local builders. The three quotes were difficult to arbitrate but from the beginning although Dominic wasn’t the cheapest he had a confident approach and showed professionalism. The terms, stages and prices were clearly laid out in his bid and he got the job. The job was not without mess as you would expect but this was minimised and a good deal of consideration was shown by Dominic and all his co-workers. There were complications such as an unexpected drain but this was quickly dealt with in conjunction with the Borough Council’s approval. All of Dominic’s co-workers carpenters, plumbers, electricians and especially the plasterer were good. The job was completed a little late but the end result is excellent and I would recommend Dominic for future work.

The best reference I can give for Dominic is the fact that I am using him again for three separate projects on our new house without seeking competitive quotes. He first did work for us about 8 years ago when he carried out a large amount of block paving when laying a driveway and path around our garden. He subsequently built a single storey extension o n to our kitchen, and accried out a conversion of our garage into a living room. We lived at the house for a further 6 years after that work and never experienced any problems.I have always found Dominic's quotes to be accurate, and his work to be timely. On any occassions when he has not been able to meet previously agreed timescales (usually due to adverse weather conditions), he has always been quick to comminicate this to me. Individuals working for him have been courteous and, on the whole, tidy. Where there have been concerns, I have raised these to Dominic and they have been dealt with swiftly and without fuss.As such, based on my experience, I have no hesitation in providing a positive reference for Dominic.

I am delighted with the work that Dominic Murphy and his team have recently completed on my house. Dominic was interested in undertaking the project because it was unusual, and I was fortunate that he took it on. It presented various problems that had to be solved as they were discovered; Dominic addressed all of them efficiently, and willingly accommodated my changes and extensions to the work planned. From the beginning to the end of the project he always kept me informed, was careful to check what I wanted, remembered what we had discussed, and managed the project reliably. On account of his courtesy and honesty it is a pleasure to deal with him. The craftsmen engaged on the project were similarly polite and friendly, and worked tidily both indoors and outside. They all did an excellent job, and on several points the results have exceeded my expectations.
